Dr. Honeycutt is a nationally recognized health economist whose research publications have been cited thousands of times. After receiving her Ph.D. in economics at the University of Maryland, she served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Fairfield University before joining Research Triangle Institute (RTI) and later becoming Director of the Health Economics Program in RTI’s Public Health Division. Dr. Honeycutt moved to become a Senior Health Economist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2023, a position she currently holds.

Perhaps Dr. Honeycutt’s most celebrated research pertains to the cost of developmental disabilities, with her study of the present value of the lifetime cost of cerebral palsy the most frequently cited study of such cost. Dr. Honeycutt has led or served as a co-investigator on numerous research grants and contracts from the CDC, National Institutes of Health, and other funders over her 25-year career. In addition to her duties at LAI as a testifying expert, Dr. Honeycutt also consults on cases led by LAI’s other testifying economists and on LAI’s research regarding cost of illness and data-driven reality checks on life care plans.
